Born and raised in Germany, Dagmar zum Hingst studied voice at New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, MA, and Conservatory of Music in Stuttgart, Germany (Staatliche Hochschule fuer Musik und Darstellende Kunst), with Hildemarie Keim.
Her success in a number of competitions, and notably at the International Voice Competition "Robert Stolz" in Hamburg, Germany, in 1997, drew her exceptional gifts to the attention of the public.
She made her début at the Pforzheim Opera in "The Marriage of Figaro" and has appeared on other German stages such as Freiburger Theater and Staatsoper Stuttgart as well as on German TV and radio. In operas, oratorios and recitals, she has toured Germany, Switzerland, France and Italy.
Signature roles include Adele in "Die Fledermaus", Musetta in "La Boheme", Lucy in "The Telephone" and Lucia in "Lucia di Lammermoor".
She lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her family.
